friday wrap up

Blog of the week goes to Three Nations. It's a goodie, filled with photography, interior styling and decoration, lots of paper and fun colour.

Look what I found! More fun balloons over at Inflated/deflated and their etsy store here. I'm going to need to get around some of these.

Yesterday we had lunch at Wonderbao. Quick, cheap, amazing. Highly recommend the pork buns.

My love affair with Roll'd is still as strong as ever. I accidentally went three times this week. So good. The Soldiers above are probably the best rice paper rolls I've had and the Lemongrass Beef vermicelli noodles are ridiculously amazing.

My blooms from the weekend. Happy Friday!

industria on gertrude

I must admit, I never really get out to this part of town. I'm really not sure why I don't... it turns out that the other side of the river ain't that bad after all. Industria is a wonderland for everything industrial (how ironic!). Everything from industrial furniture, old fish (see above) and medical objects, sciencey stuff (was never a strong point of mine but boy I love the old beaker), maps and signage, stools, billiard balls and Kodak Camera men. I could have spent hours in this place!

Industria is a one stop apartment-filler shop; honestly, you could furnish a house in one clean sweep. There is a fabulous mix of marvellous finds, I guarantee you will stumble across at least one thing that will tickle your fancy. Put Industria on your to do list ASAP.

a crafternoon tea with peaches + keen

Yesterday Emily and I were lucky enough to attend a crafternoon tea with Peaches + Keen. There was dirt, moss and lots of fun to be had. We embarked upon the task of making Kokedamas (Japanese moss balls) for The Mission Café on Chapel Street. It was a great way to learn something new and at the end we donated our creations to the café. Such a simple way to bring some colour and life into any indoor space, and in this case it was all for an extremely worthy cause.

Moss, wool, dirt, indoor plants, a bit of patience thrown in and, hey presto, Kokedamas a plenty! As in nature, no two plants are the same and each has its own personality. Emily had a long legged friend who was rather awkward to work with but looked fabulous once he had his coat on!

Japanese moss balls. It's where it's at. Head down to The Mission Cafe to check out our creations! A big thank you to Peaches + Keen.

friday wrap up

Blog of the week goes to Wish Bones & Wander Lust . I have been loving this one all week. Lots of colour, sassy ladies and inspiring fashion. Oh, and I really need these spotted pants and black top. ASAP. Like, yesterday.

I've started a bottle collection for my friends' engagement party that I am helping to style. Bottles, bottles everywhere. I am lucky enough to get a daily donation of Antipodes bottles from the lovely Nadia at the cafe next door to work. Take off the stickers and silver rings and, hey presto, bottles are perfect for hanging flowers in!

I got my domestic on and made this delicious Banana and Carrot Cake from My New Roots. So yummy and healthy!  I added extra cinnamon and used a 'naughty' icing instead for the Honey Coconut Icing that is suggested (mainly because I didn't have any of the ingredients).

Icing Al Style
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup milk
Half a block (ish) cream cheese

Simmer on stove for 5 minutes (don't stir!). Once 5 mins is up, whisk for your life and then allow to cool. Once cool, add cream cheese and blend.
Done!

Happy Friday!

andiamo

Written by Kelly Barber . Published by Hardie Grant Books. Designed by Round. Img via Round

Andiamo (Italian for 'let's go') is probably the one book that got me through final year uni. Months of struggling through final assignments and never ending deadlines were clogging my creativity (how ironic), sanity and mental stability. Then one day when I was at the end of my tether, I stumbled upon Andiamo on Studio Round's website. It was a breath of fresh air. Aesthetically it is right up my alley, block colour next to photography (old and new) is what I'm all about. No fuss, no unnecessary 'bits', clean and simple, effective. Not only did it give me design inspiration, Andiamo gave me the desire to travel. The spark was back in my step and I finished my degree. 6 months after that the planning began and I was off discovering places like Rome, Positano and Capri. The Amalfi Coast is an absolute heart stopper.

Andiamo is a beautiful visual representation of the richness of Italy; the food, the charm and the colour. Andiamo is a fresh, modern take on this historic, rich and captivating country. Highly recommend it to all.

third drawer down

It was all fun and games at Third Drawer Down on Saturday morning. If there is one shop in Melbourne that sums up my style, this is it. I LOVE the quirkiness and all the fun random objects that you never knew you needed.

I finally purchased the Areaware Dock and I have no idea why I waited so long (over a year), it has changed my life already. I hate run-of-the-mill alarm clocks (they are just SO ugly) so I threw mine out. Having no idea what the time is the majority of the time is less than ideal. Anyway, I woke up thinking it was time to get up this morning... thanks to my new dock, I knew it was 4am and went straight back to sleep. A game changer, get around it!

I'm really wanting to make a "Sorry you are such an asshole" balloon.. oh boy it could come in handy!

Third Drawer Down I love you.

friday wrap up

Blog of the week goes to Fancy!. I can'g get enough of it, best thing to come out of NZ....ever!

I'm very excited to be attending a 'Crafternoon Tea' next weekend, facilitated by Peaches + Keen. Stay tuned for the run-down.

Yo-Chi opened up down the road in Carlisle Street. Definitely worth checking it out, great flavours and toppings. Pay by weight, not number of toppings.

I had breakfast at Gardnier and Field (twice) on the weekend. Was extremely yummy both times. I think I'm becoming a weekend regular!

China Red = extremely well fed.

I love this quote, something all girls should have - a world of their own. Happy Friday!
